Note: The laboratory’s creatinine method has been calibrated to be traceable to an isotope dilution mass spectrometry (IDMS).

Specimen Requirements

Must be ordered concurrently with #1887 Creatinine, Plasma. Creatinine is available as part of #1851 Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP), #6961 Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP), and #6970 Renal Function Panel.

Laboratory Processing Instructions:

Test performed in BJH Core Lab.  eGFR  must have accompanying creatinine. Specimen collection times must be within no more than 5 minutes of each other. eGFR may not be added onto completed testing. If eGFR is needed for a patient with a completed creatinine, call Core Lab to request calculation using LUO eGFR. Centrifuge upon receipt. Deliver to the Modular workstation in North Campus Laboratory. Processed by 8100 automated line in Core Lab for delivery to the Cobas 8000. Completed specimens are stored refrigerated for 5 days.
