Methodology

Screen:  Kinetic Interaction of Microparticles in Solution (KIMS) 

Confirmation:  Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)

Testing Algorithm:

If the specimen is positive by the screening method, confirmation will be performed automatically by an alternate method, at an additional charge.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Urine, random

Container/Tube: Yellow-top urine collection tube or plain red-top tube (full)

Specimen Volume: 10 mL

Collection Instructions: No additive.

Screen:  Monday through Sunday
Confirmation:  Monday through Sunday

Turnaround Time:
STAT: Screening result available 1 hour after receipt in laboratory.
Routine: Screening result available 3 hours after receipt in laboratory.
Confirmation of presumptive positive results within 1 to 2 days.

None detected 
Positive screens will be confirmed by LC/MS-MS.       
Immunoassay screen cut-off level: 300 ng/mL.
