Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Whole blood
Container/Tube: Lavender top (EDTA)-Pink-top (EDTA) tube is not acceptable.

Specimen Volume: Full tube

Specimen Minimum Volume: 1 mL
Collection Instructions: Immediately invert tube several times to mix blood.

STAT: 1 hour after receipt in laboratory

Routine: 2-4 hours after receipt in laboratory
