If RPR is reactive, then RPR quantitative and fluorescent treponemal antibody confirmation will be performed, at an additional charge.

Alternate Tube:

1 lavender-top (EDTA) tube may be used if <24 hours old. This specimen can also be used for the reflex RPR, Quantitiative tests and Flourescent Treponema Antibody test


Analyte Stability:

Test performed in BJH Hematology. Specimens stored at 2° C to 8° C for <8 days or frozen at -20° C for an indefinite time are acceptable for testing.

Laboratory Processing Instructions:

Test performed in BJH Hematology. Centrifuge tube for 10 minutes at 2,000 rpm. Separate serum from RBCs and refrigerate until tested.
