Methodology

Screen:  Kinetic Interaction of Microparticles in Solution (KIMS) 

 

Testing Algorithm:

Samples containing greater than 300 ng/mL of morphine or other cross-reacting substances are reported as screen positive, presumptive.  Results are presumptive for medical purposes only.  If the screen is positive, confirmation LAB3879 will be performed automatically by LC-MS/MS, at an additional charge.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Urine, random

Container/Tube: Yellow-top urine collection tube or plain red-top tube (full)

Specimen Volume: 10 mL

Collection Instructions: No additive.

Confirmation:  Monday through Sunday

Turnaround Time:
STAT: Screening result available 1 hour after receipt in laboratory.  Confirmation performed within 24 hours.

Positive screen will be confirmed by LC-MS/MS. 

The following drug(s) will be confirmed for positive screen: morphine, 6-acetylmorphine, codeine, hydrocodone, and hydromorphone.      
Immunoassay screen cut-off level: 300 ng/mL.
Note: Drug results are to be used only for medical purposes. All results, especially unconfirmed screening results, must not be used for non-medical purposes.
