Methodology
Cytopathology smears, ThinPrep, cytocentrifuge preparation, and/or cell block
Testing Algorithm:
Histochemical and immunohistochemical stains will be performed as diagnostically indicated, at an additional charge.

Fixed Smear
Specimen Type: Varies
Container/Tube: Slide
Specimen Volume: Entire specimen
Collection Instructions:
1. Label frosted end of slide in pencil with patient’s name, date of birth, and date of collection.
2. Collect specimen.
3. Fix slide immediately with spray fixative. Allow slide to dry.
4. Place slide in a slide mailer. Do not close mailer until slide has dried completely.

Container/Tube: Container with cyto-fixative
Specimen Volume: Adequate specimen
Collection Instructions:
1. Place specimen in container with cyto-fixative.
2. Label container with patient’s name, date of birth, Social Security number, date of collection, and type of aspirate.
