Reference Values
Ratio of pleural to serum LD ≥ 0.6 is indicative of exudate and <0.6 of transudates.
Ratio of peritoneal to serum LD ≥ 0.6 is indicative of exudate and <0.6 of transudates.
Ratio of pericardial to serum LD ≥ 0.6 is indicative of exudates and transudates <0.6.

Test performed in BJH Core lab. If specimen is received in a Vacutainer, check procedure to confirm suitability. Centrifuge upon receipt. Apply blue tape to the specimen aliquot tube. Deliver to the Cobas 8000. Completed specimen is stored frozen for 30 days.
