Testing Algorithm:

Qualitative RPR is performed and if Positive, then RPR Titer and Treponemal antibody confirmation will be performed at an additional charge.

RPR Titer reported as doubling dilution ratio 1:1, 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16, etc.
Once Treponemal Ab is Positive, it remains positive for life. Order RPR Monitoring (LAB3618) in patients with known history of syphilis.

Laboratory Processing Instructions:

Specimens will be put on the Cobas automation line to centrifuge, then go to MAN1-S1-OBS1 rack to be delivered to Setups bench. If Treponemal Ab reflex testing is needed, specimen will go back on the line in the Spun specimen rack to be run on the Cobas or front loaded if aliquot is sent.
