Hospital Patient:
Specimen Type: Plasma
Container/Tube: Lavender top (EDTA plasma)
Specimen Volume: Full tube
Collection Instructions: Tube must be full.
Additional Information:
1. Place specimen in a container of wet ice and deliver immediately to the laboratory.
2. Specimen must be received in the laboratory within 30 minutes of draw time.
3. Time of collection must be indicated on specimen label or request form.
Non Hospital Patient:
Call Barnes-Jewish Hospital Laboratory Customer Service at 314-362-1470 prior to collection, select option 1 and schedule a MISSION CRITICAL pick-up.
For specimens collected that cannot be delivered to Core Lab within 30 minutes, centrifuge sample within 30 minutes of collection, aliquot 1 mL plasma, and freeze. Transport plasma frozen via courier.
