Hepatitis A Antibody, IgM (Anti-HAV, IgM) Hepatitis Bs Antigen (HBsAg)
Hepatitis B Core Antibody, IgM (Anti-HBc IgM) Hepatitis C Antibody (Anti-HCV)
Reflex Tests:
Hepatitis Bs Antigen Confirmation Reflex Hepatitis C RNA

Testing Algorithm:

If HBsAg is reactive, then HepatitisBs antigen confirmation will be performed, at an additional charge.

If Hep C is reactive, then Reflex Hep C RNA will be performed at an additional charge.

Alternate Tube types are acceptable for Hepatitis serology testing only. Alternate tube types will not Reflex to Hep C RNA:

Note: Performance has not been established with cord blood, neonatal specimen, cadaver specimen, heat-inactivated specimen, or body fluid other than serum or plasma such as saliva, urine, amniotic fluid, or pleural fluid.
Analyte Stability:

Ambient temperature stability:  Test immediately or refrigerate

Separated from cells refrigerated stability at 2° C to 8° C: 7 days

Frozen at </= -20° C stability: 980 days. Avoid more than 5 freeze/thaw cycles. Repeated freeze/thaw cycles can cause analyte deterioration. 

Laboratory Processing Instructions:

Test performed in BJH Core lab. Processed by Cobas 8100 automated line for delivery to the Roche Cobas e801. Completed specimens are stored refrigerated for 5 days.

Upon confirmation, all positive HCV and HBsAg results must be reported to the state within 3 days.
