Specimen Type: Whole blood

Container/Tube: Lavender top (EDTA)

Specimen Volume: Full tube

Collection Instructions: Immediately invert several times to mix blood

Inpatients:  < 6.5 g/dL and >/= 20.0 g/dL.  Inpatient alert values are called the first time and if consistent, resulted as “Consistent with previous” for 72 hours.

Outpatients: <6.5 g/dL and >/= 20.0 g/dL.  Outpatient alerts are called each time.
