Test Code LAB8213 Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR)

Performing Laboratory

Barnes-Jewish Hospital Laboratory

Methodology

Calculation using CKD-EPI 2021 study equation:

GFR = 142 min (standardized Scr/K, 1)α x max (standardized Scr/K, 1) -1.200 x 0.9938 Age x 1.012 [if female]

The equation requires three variables:

  • Serum, or plasma, creatinine (Scr)
  • Age in years (18 years or older)
  • Gender (male or female)
  • Race is not included when using the BJC Cerner eGFR calculation.
    • Note: The laboratory’s creatinine method has been calibrated to be traceable to an isotope dilution mass spectrometry (IDMS).
