Reference Values

Nonreactive (reported as reactive or nonreactive). If result is reactive, supplemental molecular testing, Reflex Hepatitis C RNA, will be automatically performed to determine infection status in accordance with current CDC recommendations.

Serum will be submitted to the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory for confirmatory/supplemental testing at an additional charge.

Interpretation depends on clinical setting.

Alternate Tube types are acceptable for Hepatitis C Ab serology testing only. Alternate tube types will not Reflex to Hep C RNA:

Note: Performance has not been established with cord blood, neonatal specimen, cadaver specimen, heat-inactivated specimen, or body fluid other than serum or plasma such as saliva, urine, amniotic fluid, or pleural fluid.
Analyte Stability:

20 to 25° C: 3 day

2 to 8° C: 21 days

-15 to -20° C stability: 90 days.

Avoid more than 6 freeze/thaw cycles. Repeated freeze/thaw cycles can cause analyte deterioration. 

Laboratory Processing Instructions:

Completed specimens are stored refrigerated for 5 days.
