If an abnormal value or flag is triggered on the initial patient specimen, a manual smear will always be reviewed.

Specimen Type: Percutaneous umbilical blood
Container/Tube: Heparinized syringe
Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL
Specimen Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL
Collection Instructions: Immediately invert several times to mix blood.
