Methodology
Formalin-fixed tissues are processed and embedded in paraffin; serial sections are stained with hematoxylin and eosin, and examined by light microscopy. Special stains obtained when indicated.

Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Tissue from skin or mucosa
Container/Tube: Specimen container with 10% formalin
Specimen Volume: Adequate specimen
Collection Instructions:
1. Place specimen in container with 10% formalin.
2. Label container with patient’s name, date of birth, Social Security number, date of collection, and type of specimen.
Additional Information: Biopsy site and clinical diagnosis are required.
