A clean, plastic urine container(s) with no preservative.
Acceptable: Clean, screw-cap container with no preservative.
Collection Volume: 5.0 mL (minimum of 1.0 mL) of a random collection
Patient Preparation:   See Urine Collection instructions 

Sample Rejection:

Specimens collected with acid as preservative.
Mislabeled or unlabeled specimens.

Lab Processing instructions: Mix specimen well and aliquot sample into a conical plastic vial. Place original collection container (with any remaining sample) in freezer #1.Give aliquot to Chem COBAS bench and let them know they have Met Genetics specimen that needs to be frozen post analysis.
Processed Volume: 5.0 mL (minimum 1.0 mL) urine

NO SPECIMEN SHOULD BE REJECTED FOR VOLUME! GIVE ALL SPECIMENS TO METABOLIC GENETICS TO DECIDE IF QNS.


Analyte Stability: Creatinine performed on receipt, Entire collection then frozen.
 
NOTES: Give specimen to chemistry bench to run Creat prior to freezing.

If specimen needs to be shared with UA bench make sure they are aware that specimen is shared and original container needs to be placed in MetGen basket in freezer.
