Container/Tube: Plain brown urine container
Specimen Volume: Entire collection
Collection Instructions: No additive. Refrigerate specimen during collection.

3. Collection periods <20 hours will be ordered as a timed-urine collection.
4. Collection periods >48 hours require approval from the Laboratory Medicine resident before analysis.

Analyte Stability:
24 hours at ambient temperature is acceptable; refrigeration during collection is preferred.
Laboratory Processing Instructions:
Test performed in BJH Core Lab. If ordered with a urine protein electrophoresis; this is a duplicate and should be cancelled. If ordered alone; do not send an aliquot to Chemistry for total protein, and concentrate 100x. Keep a 10-mL urine specimen in refrigerator for possible future use. Place concentrate in appropriate rack.
