#5085 Immunofixation Electrophoresis, Urine is performed on all specimens.

Note: Electrophoresis fractions include albumin, alpha-1 globulin, alpha-2 globulin, beta, beta-restricted peak, gamma, gamma-restricted peak.

Specimen Type: Urine, 24 hour
Container/Tube: Plain, brown urine container
Specimen Volume: Entire collection
Collection Instructions: No additive. Refrigerate specimen during collection.
Additional Information:

1. Starting and ending times of collection are required.

2. Follow instructions in Urine Collection in Special Instructions.

3. For collection period <20 hours, #5085 Immunofixation Electrophoresis, Urine will be the only test performed.

Plain, brown urine container preferred; any clean container will be accepted.

Analyte Stability:

24 hours at ambient temperature is acceptable; refrigeration during collection is preferred.

Laboratory Processing Instructions:

Test performed in BJH Core Lab. Order the test and receive into BJS CH IN Lab. Measure the total volume and pH of the urine. Record the total volume, collection period, and pH on the urine form and in the laboratory computer system. If collection period is <20 hours cancel this test and order #5085 Immunofixation Electrophoresis, Urine.
